Doodle Grooming in Fuquay-Varina, NC
Walk-in & same-day dog grooming appointments available in Fuquay-Varina, NC
If you own a doodle, you already know: not every groomer can groom a doodle. The curly-wavy coat that makes them look like a teddy bear is also the coat that mats fastest, hides skin issues, and turns into a shave-down emergency if it gets away from you. Doodles need a groomer who actually understands what’s underneath all that hair.
That’s what we do all day at KurlyTails. Goldendoodles, labradoodles, bernedoodles, sheepadoodles, cavapoos — they’re the majority of our daily appointments, and our groomers have hand-scissored thousands of them.
What’s included in a doodle full groom
- A bath with shampoo and conditioner appropriate for curly coats — we don’t use one bottle for everything
- High-velocity blow-dry that lifts the undercoat and helps prevent matting at the skin
- A hand-scissored, breed-specific haircut — teddy bear, puppy cut, kennel cut, or whatever you and your groomer agree on
- Face, paw, and sanitary trim
- Nail trim or grinding (your choice)
- Ear cleaning and ear-hair pluck if needed
- Anal gland expression on request
We finish with a brushout so you can actually see the cut, and we’ll show you the dog before you pay.
What you should know about doodle coats
Doodles need a groom every 4 to 8 weeks. Stretch past 8 weeks and matting becomes a real problem — especially behind the ears, in the armpits, around the collar, and on the back legs. Once a coat is matted to the skin, brushing it out hurts the dog, and a shave-down becomes the kindest option.
Between grooms, the single best thing you can do is brush all the way to the skin (a line-brush, not a surface brush) two or three times a week. We’re happy to show you how at any appointment — bring the brush you’ve been using and we’ll tell you if it’s actually getting through the coat.
Why doodle owners drive to us from across the area
We’re a small shop on purpose. One dog at a time, no kennel time, breed-specific finish. Doodle families come to us from Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Apex, Willow Spring, Angier, and as far as south Raleigh — because they couldn’t find another groomer who would actually scissor the head the way they wanted.
